Bank of China, $1, without the place of circulation, provisional issue of 1911 overprinted on the series of 1909, serial number 849896, olive-brown and red orange, Li Hong Zhang at left, hillside village at right, the characters ‘Zhong Guo Yin Hang’ at right and left respectively, reverse orange and black, tree lined canal at centre, without the printed manuscript signatures, (Pick 16a), PMG 30 Very Fine (Pinholes). A rare type note that when encountered will have the place of circulation overprinted within the left and right borders. This is an early type originally intended for general countrywide circulation.
